The gyms are finally open! You can't wait to start lifting heavy, training hard and getting back into your usual routine. Stop! Take a second to think about how long you've been in lockdown for and what effect it might have had on your current fitness levels.
You might feel rubbish not being able to lift what you used to or go as far as you could. But it's extremely important to take things one step at a time and ease yourself back into your training routine. The last thing you want is to pick up an injury after just coming out of lockdown.
Here's some tips to prevent injury:
Establish a solid Warm-Up routine
Work on getting your range of motion back
Go over some of the exercises you might've forgotten how to do correctly
Lift lighter, run a shorter distance, take things slowly, decrease training volume
It won't take long to get back to your usual routine.
