An important thing to remember when starting your fitness journey...

Updated: Jan 26, 2021

After first starting training in a gym 6 years ago and being a personal trainer for 2, I've come to realise the common pitfalls, misconceptions and struggles of someone just starting out. The most important thing I've learnt, that is extremely important for beginners to understand, is everyone progresses at different rates and that typically, especially muscle growth, is an incredibly slow process. Try not to compare your progress to others and enjoy the process of trying and learning different methods and training in general! Roughly 3 years ago I weighed around 50kg. My main goal when first starting was to get stronger and gain muscle in the process. Today I weigh roughly around 67kg. This works out as around 4.5 - 5.5kg of muscle growth yearly. Realise early that some goals will take time and enjoy getting strong, gaining muscle, getting fitter or faster... slow.
